Following up with our free introduction last November, BMC opens a support group dedicated to teachers called “Teachers care”, for teachers who care about their job and need care for themselves.
In martial arts, students learn to put 30 % of their weight on their front leg, 70% on their back leg, so that even though the front leg is swept, the back leg still supports the body. As a teacher, we tend to put 100% of our effort caring for our students. Drawing a lesson from martial arts, how would that be to put more efforts in caring for self, in the face of everyday challenges, stress, and anxiety?
Why a support group for teachers?
In a big city like Beijing, it can be very easy to feel isolated. A support group for teachers is aimed to help teachers to connect with people who have similar struggles, sharing best self-care practices, supporting each other towards emotional growth, empowerment, and a sense of well-being overall.
Modalities of the “Teachers Care” support group at BMC
- small in size (maximum 10 people)
- confidential: participant vows to confidentiality at the begin of each session
- flexible: you can drop in anytime
- facilitated by a professional coach, trained in NVC (NonViolent Communication), and Mindfulness
The content is shaped by the sharing of the participants, with the guidance of the facilitator-coach.
Who is the facilitator?
My name is Julia Feste, I worked as a teacher for more than three years, in various settings and age groups in Beijing. As a teacher, I wished I could join such a teacher support group, instead of trying to figure it out all on my own. I am trained in NonViolent Communication, Mindfulness, and I am an ICF coach in training, and it is dear to my heart to put my skills at the service of the teachers.
See you soon,
Julia Feste
